A Look Back At 2012

What a year 2012 was!

Full of firsts, many lessons and life-changing business decisions!

I can only be truly humbled as I look back on my 2012 year in business. Not only was is the first year that my business was my full time-job, it was also the year I decided to re-brand AND settle on a path for my business. In 2012 same-sex unions was legalized in January and another first came my way...photographing civil unions! I've met and worked with so many incredible people this year, I wish I could name you all!!!

As I reflect on 2012 and the direction my business grew, I am just flabbergasted at how much my skills have improved and how my photographs have really taken on a voice. I am humbled at clients that used my business for several sessions and recommended me to family and friends. I started this very blog, re-branded to make my brand more colorful, ventured into the world of newborn photography and made my voice known as a family and child photographer. I said goodbye to wedding photography (but not completely!) and I learned how to voice what I wanted in my life and business. This year was filled with COLOR!!

To all the clients, families, friends and individuals who taught me, mentored me and gave me chances to capture priceless moments...I want to say THANK YOU!! Let's be honest, I wouldn't be where I am today without any of YOU!! From all the love on Facebook, to beautiful thank you notes from clients to personal recommendations for business, I am truly humbled to have had such an amazing year in my business.

I only hope that 2013 provides ten-fold what this past year brought to my life! Here's to 2013 and all it has to offer!!!

Happy Almost New Years, everyone! May 2013 bring you much happiness, health and love :)

Christmas Card Surprise

One of the best things about Christmas, are all of the pretty and fun Christmas cards clients create with photos they have taken over the holiday season. When Dave Collins contacted me about doing some maternity photos for his wife Sue I became super excited to reconnect with someone from my childhood life! Dave's family went to our neighborhood pool where my brothers and I grew up swimming and having fun in the summers when we were younger. I also worked with Dave a local produce stand for a few summers while I was in college. We were not only able to get some great photos of he and Sue together, we were also able to reconnect on old neighborhood friends and stories. I also got to meet their two crazy dogs, who were also featured in some of the photos! I've waited to post these photos online because Dave and Sue wanted to surprise their family and friends with the photos on their Christmas card design. Now that Christmas is over, I'd love to share a peak at their session with all of you :)

You can tell that Dave and Sue really adore each other!

Happy 1st Birthday, Faith!

Babies grow up MUCH too fast! I'm not a parent, but watching all my client's children grow up in front of my camera and beyond has truly been a blessing! I met Urs and Dan Gring this past spring to do four month photos for their adorable little girl, Faith. Urs's family lives in Elkton right by the water...talk about an ideal location for photos! Faith wasn't so cooperative for her first photo session, but she knocked her first birthday session out of the park! Talk about such a difference in personalities! Faith still has the most beautiful blue eyes, but her dominant personality is brought to live by her entire family. Urs, Dan and I spent the afternoon laughing in amazement at how much Faith has grown and how funny she is. From time outside on an unsually warm day, to playing with colorful sprinkles, I hope you enjoy a peak into Faith's one year photo session.

What a happy little girl!

Love her baby blues!

This ia framer for sure!

Stay tuned for blog posts with thoughts on the last year and reflections and goals for 2013! I can't believe how fast 2012 has flow by!
