Making A Difference

When I started my business, I knew I wanted my services and photography to be different. I wanted to make my business stand out from others and giving back has ALWAYS been near and dear to my heart. A few weeks ago I filled out an application to become a part of the Magic Hour Foundation.

You may be asking yourself, what is the Magic Hour Foundation? The Magic Hour is a national network of professional photographers who want to serve the individuals and families who are fighting cancer by providing them with the ability to celebrate the truly important things in life through photography. These charitable portrait sessions will provide an opportunity to be normal - to just relax, smile and have fun with loved ones. Above all, these photographers will strive to express compassion and love as they support them and pray for God’s grace in their lives, no matter the outcome of their battle. I read about Magic Hour through Jasmine Star, a photographer I have been following for several years now. Jasmine was able to complete one these charitable photo sessions and blogged a few images portraying her emotions on how she, too, wanted to make a difference with her photography.

After reading Jasmine's blog post and looking over the Magic Hour Foundation's website, I decided to take a leap of faith and fill out an application. After careful consideration of my website, social media accounts, etc. I was happy to receive an acceptance letter to be a part of the photographers network for the Magic Hour Foundation! I was beyond thrilled that my application was accepted and now I have to wait and be patient for a session to open up in the local area, or in and around the Wilmington, DE area. The Magic Hour is a small foundation and they are still growing! It might take some time for me to complete a session, but I am anxious for the day to do so!

I encourage all of my photographer friends to take a look at the Magic Hour Foundation and consider filling out an application. Together, we ALL can make a difference and provide beautiful memories to people in needs of happy times, smiles and beautiful photos :)

A Very Hard Decison

Has it really been since MAY that I lost blogged??

I know taking a hiatus from any social media isn't good and it certainly doesn't get you anymore followers, but life has been busy...and changing!

Over the summer I decided to go back to work full time. Personally, this was a hard choice to make. After running Rebecca Simeone Designs full time for almost two years and making a livelihood, it was just time to get my life back in order a little bit. Although this decision was hard, I find myself just wanting to find the right place in the world for my little business. Just because I'm back to work full time does not mean I won't be offering anymore business, it's the exact opposite!

2012 was such an incredible year for my business and I owe it all to my amazing clients! In 2012 I pushed myself and learned a lot. I had loyal clients follow my pursuit and recommend business...I honestly couldn't have asked for anything more! 2013 was slow to start, business wise, and it continues to be slow so it was the perfect time for me to concentrate on going back to work full time and getting my business back to all things I love!

I know I will always have loyal supporters of my business; family and friends who support me, and for that I forever grateful. Wherever my business journey goes, I know I will always have support . I came into 2013 full of hope and promise, and that outlook hasn't changed! When it comes to life, it's way to short to not take chances. I took a chance in 2008 right before the economy went way down south to start Rebecca Simeone Designs. And here I am five years later, still standing, still growing, still learning and YES still dreaming. I hope that in a couple of years, I can take my business full time again and take that chance in much better conditions.

Every decision I make is the best for my personal life and for my business life. I will continue to make business decisions that are the best for me and I am just so grateful to have THAT CHOICE.

I'd like to dedicate this post to all of the loyal clients, friends and family who have watched me learn, grow and even struggle. The best is yet to come for Rebecca Simeone Designs!

Stay tuned for some of the latest photos I've taken and I'm hoping to be more loyal to my blog and share my hopes and dreams with everyone!

Happy Thursday!
