Bridget Cecilia

I think I'm finally starting to find my niche in the photography world...newborn photography! Let me just say, newborn photography isn't easy! It's hard work, requires a lot of patience and a lot of safety is involved while taking newborn photos. But, I love photographing newborn babies in the first few weeks of their lives. They are just too precious for words, and Bridget Cecilia is no exception!

Baby girl Bridget was born just a little over two weeks ago and what a little doll she is! She is absolutely adorable and ALREADY has a mind of her own. Her mom, Kristin, is my cousin. It is always a joy to take photographs for family. Not only do I get to capture our ever expanding family, but I get to provide beautiful memories as well. Kristin and her husband, Steve, are SO in love with their little girl. Especially Steve...he is a doting father and completely enamored by his daughter.

Bridget's newborn photos were taken the first day of fall, so it was very appropriate to
use my fall themed newborn items and props :)

Kristin's favorite color is purple, so I knew she would want to use this adorable
purple, knit hat for some of the photos.

Isn't Bridget the cutest little pumpkin you've ever seen?
This last photo was taken for Dad, he requested Cookie Monster to be a part
of the photo session, I hope this photo makes Steve very happy!
I hope you enjoyed a peak into Bridget's newborn life!

Stay tuned for some fun Halloween and Fall Fun sessions :) Happy Fall, everyone!

The Latest and Greatest

I've been really bad with blogging individual sessions lately and being back work to full time demands more time from me than I remember! I wanted to at least show a peak of family sessions that I've had the pleasure to take over the past few months. From cute babies, to wonderful growing families, to loyal clients...I love capturing images that clients will remember forever. From surviving the rain, heat and storms, all of my sessions lately have been wonderful additions to the RSD family. Enjoy some of the latest and greatest images :)

Aubree - a sweet 9 month girl with BEAUTIFUL brown eyes!

The Schifano family survived the cold and wind to take some fun family photos!

We chased the rain and storms for these colorful photos - The Maurer family was so much fun to photograph.

Gaby & Lew- getting married this spring. I'm so glad I'll be their wedding photographer and friend!

The Schreppler Family - loyal clients and friends. I've documented their growing family since day one and couldn't be happier about it!!

Stay tuned for a personal post highlighting a personal vacation in Ocean City, NJ! It feels good to have some personal photos on hand :)

Making A Difference

When I started my business, I knew I wanted my services and photography to be different. I wanted to make my business stand out from others and giving back has ALWAYS been near and dear to my heart. A few weeks ago I filled out an application to become a part of the Magic Hour Foundation.

You may be asking yourself, what is the Magic Hour Foundation? The Magic Hour is a national network of professional photographers who want to serve the individuals and families who are fighting cancer by providing them with the ability to celebrate the truly important things in life through photography. These charitable portrait sessions will provide an opportunity to be normal - to just relax, smile and have fun with loved ones. Above all, these photographers will strive to express compassion and love as they support them and pray for God’s grace in their lives, no matter the outcome of their battle. I read about Magic Hour through Jasmine Star, a photographer I have been following for several years now. Jasmine was able to complete one these charitable photo sessions and blogged a few images portraying her emotions on how she, too, wanted to make a difference with her photography.

After reading Jasmine's blog post and looking over the Magic Hour Foundation's website, I decided to take a leap of faith and fill out an application. After careful consideration of my website, social media accounts, etc. I was happy to receive an acceptance letter to be a part of the photographers network for the Magic Hour Foundation! I was beyond thrilled that my application was accepted and now I have to wait and be patient for a session to open up in the local area, or in and around the Wilmington, DE area. The Magic Hour is a small foundation and they are still growing! It might take some time for me to complete a session, but I am anxious for the day to do so!

I encourage all of my photographer friends to take a look at the Magic Hour Foundation and consider filling out an application. Together, we ALL can make a difference and provide beautiful memories to people in needs of happy times, smiles and beautiful photos :)

A Very Hard Decison

Has it really been since MAY that I lost blogged??

I know taking a hiatus from any social media isn't good and it certainly doesn't get you anymore followers, but life has been busy...and changing!

Over the summer I decided to go back to work full time. Personally, this was a hard choice to make. After running Rebecca Simeone Designs full time for almost two years and making a livelihood, it was just time to get my life back in order a little bit. Although this decision was hard, I find myself just wanting to find the right place in the world for my little business. Just because I'm back to work full time does not mean I won't be offering anymore business, it's the exact opposite!

2012 was such an incredible year for my business and I owe it all to my amazing clients! In 2012 I pushed myself and learned a lot. I had loyal clients follow my pursuit and recommend business...I honestly couldn't have asked for anything more! 2013 was slow to start, business wise, and it continues to be slow so it was the perfect time for me to concentrate on going back to work full time and getting my business back to all things I love!

I know I will always have loyal supporters of my business; family and friends who support me, and for that I forever grateful. Wherever my business journey goes, I know I will always have support . I came into 2013 full of hope and promise, and that outlook hasn't changed! When it comes to life, it's way to short to not take chances. I took a chance in 2008 right before the economy went way down south to start Rebecca Simeone Designs. And here I am five years later, still standing, still growing, still learning and YES still dreaming. I hope that in a couple of years, I can take my business full time again and take that chance in much better conditions.

Every decision I make is the best for my personal life and for my business life. I will continue to make business decisions that are the best for me and I am just so grateful to have THAT CHOICE.

I'd like to dedicate this post to all of the loyal clients, friends and family who have watched me learn, grow and even struggle. The best is yet to come for Rebecca Simeone Designs!

Stay tuned for some of the latest photos I've taken and I'm hoping to be more loyal to my blog and share my hopes and dreams with everyone!

Happy Thursday!

Life These Days

Is it me, or is the year 2013 flying by???

Time these days seems so short and now that the weather is getting nicer and the buds and colors of spring are starting to pop up, I'm super excited to get back into the swing of things! I have some fun family sessions coming up, a few weddings of my own and lots of second shooting dates for weddings to look forward to. It's true, things are pretty dormant in the winter but it's a great time to take a step back and revamp for the upcoming warmer months.

Now that tax season is over (PHEW!) and the colors of spring are here I'm trying to set forth some more personal goals for myself to make this new year better than it already is. I'm looking to do a personal sessions of mine to have photos taken of me in various yoga poses that I've learned over the months and show off some of my skills. I have a long way to go with yoga, but it's helped to quiet my mind! I'm also trying to take my camera out once a week and take some personal photos just for me. Whether it's a trip to Longwood with a photographer friends, or documenting my life, ideally I'd like to have more of life captured. I've gotten more into a health food movement which is great for my body! I'm trying lots of new smoothies and green drinks and overall just trying to read all labels on my food so I can live a healthier life. I've purchased lots of books to read which is you're looking for some interesting reads about living a healthier life, check out these books: Crazy, Sexy Diet, Slim, Calm, Sexy Yoga and The Healthy Green Drink Diet.

Some other great reads I've been lucky enough to get my hands one are:
Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told you About Being Creative

The Secret (SERIOUSLY a GREAT read!)

Unjunk Your Junk Food: Healthy Alernatives to Conventional Snacks

The Nine Rooms of Happiness: Loving Yourself, Finding Your Purpose& Getting Over Life's Imperfections

I just got back from a wonderful vacation in Nags Head, North Carolina. While I didn't take many photos this year, I'm happy I took a step back from the camera. I had time to catch up with friends, my boyfriend and actually read a few books! The weather wasn't ideal for a week at the beach, but I brought the warm weather home with me, so spring has finally sprung!

My boyfriend and I just celebrated being together for two years and we documented the occasion by having photos taken from one of our good friends who is an AMAZING photographer. Seriously check out his website and take a peak at his awesomeness:

Having a business is all about balance. I think over the past couple of years I've come to a better understanding of having a personal life and being a business owner. You have to come up with a balance that WORKS FOR YOU. And that's exactly what I'm doing. Stay tuned for more exciting blog posts and happy spring everyone :)

Welcome to The World, Charlotte Ann!

I have a fondness in my heart for newborns, especially when I get the capture their first few days in this world. Newborns are so cuddly, cute and in general fun to photograph! I had the pleasure of capturing a few photos for my brother and sister-in-law as they introduced their newest child into the world, Charlotte Ann Simeone! Little sister to Andrew and Samantha Simeone, this family is now complete! Each of my nieces and nephews have their own unique personalities and I can't wait to watch them all grow up! The past few years of being an Aunt has been amazing and I'm so excited to have three special nieces and nephews in my life! I've captured each of their lives over the years, but doing newborn photos for Charlotte holds a special place in my heart.

Congrats Greg and Liz on your beautiful little girl...don't worry my camera will still be around over the years documenting your family :)

Welcome to the world!!

The Lovebirds

When Stephanie and Mike Elwood got married last year, their wedding theme was The Lovebirds. It's only appropriate that their blue and red lovebirds which adorned wedding photos presented themselves in their maternity photos. See example here:

When Stephanie got in touch with me about doing photos at a local library in Hockessin, it was definitely outside my comfort zone but I am so glad we were able to shoot at this location! There were such creative spaces at the library and so many colorful books to provide fun backgrounds. Stephanie and Mike are truly lovebirds. They are best friends. They make each other laugh and share a humor that other couples want to have in their own lives. I felt right at home taking photos of Stephanie and Mike. I've known Stephanie since grade school and her sense of humor and laugh ARE still the same. It's truly incredible to meet people years later and they haven't changed a bit!

I had so much fun taking photos for Stephanie and Mike as they are expecting a little peanut in just about two weeks! The baby will be a surprise but you can tell these expectant parents can't wait to meet their first child. Best of luck to the both of you as the journey of parenthood begins, you two will be fantastic parents!

Enjoy just a peak into Mike and Stephanie's lives :)

Adorable!

Whenever I look at this photo, I laugh!

Love the sense of humor between these two!

A favorite!
